I had known Brenda since Elementary School days!.  I used to walk by her home every day on the way back from Elementary School.  She always impressed me with her sweet smile, jovial laughter, and when she looked at me I felt she could penetrate my soul.  She was a listener, a rare gift.  Perhaps the most memorable for me was Brenda's love for my mom.  She became my mom's hairdresser the last years of my mom's life.  She not only took care of my mom's hair, but also became her confidant.  My mom looked forward to her weekly visits to Brenda and when I came into tiown, I would go with my mom to her appointments so that Brenda and I could chat about the "good old days".  When I informed Brenda of my mom's passing, it was as if her own mom had passed away.  I will always be grateful to Brenda for her compassion and charity towards my angel mom. Thanks, Brenda, you touched our lives quietly and impressively...you will be fondly remembered.

Brenda's father and mine occasionally played in a trio, typically dances and weddings.  A dedicated old-schooler, Earl didn't much care for young wiseacres like me.  Brenda was close to her father but didn't mind, always seemed friendly.  We chatted at one of the reunions mainly about my mother whom Brenda felt close to.  As with Tina's mother Brenda gave Mom permanents in her home beauty salon.  I thought of her as sincere, shy, self-confident, more interested in hearing about others than talking about herself.
