Pete Stathis

Former resident of Livermore, Pete Stathis, 59, died Jan. 31, 2007 in Reno from brain cancer complications.

Pete was born August 12, 1947 in Las Vegas, graduated with an Electronic Engineering degree from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and worked in that profession for over 30 years for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at their offices at the Nevada Test Site in Mercury, Nevada, and at their Livermore, Calif., facility.

He was an amateur Ham radio operator for over 40 years, having built his first receiver as a young teenager. He moved to Winnemucca in 2001, where he felt he had truly found his home. He loved nature and the outdoors and the country life.

He is survived by Patricia, his wife and best friend of nearly 30 years. Rosary will be said at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Winnemucca Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Pete married Patricia K. Vargo on May 7, 1977.  His given name is Panagiotis John Stathis.
