Robert Barry Eith

Robert Barry Eith was born August 4, 1947 in Daytona Beach, Florida to parents Dr. Gustave Thomas and Dorothy M (Bigham) Eith. 

He attended Daytona’s Seabreeze High School through his sophomore year, where he was a member of the Latin Club and Band.  His parents were divorced and Barry moved to Las Vegas with his father in 1963, where he attended and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1965.  At LVHS he was an honor roll student, a member of Latin Club, Math Club, Varsity Band, and Senior Honor Club.  He earned a Life Membership in the National Honor Society.

Barry graduated from University of Denver in 1969 where he was a Dean’s List Pre-Med student and member of Kappa Sigma and then Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternities. 

Records indicate he married Carol A. Pereira on January 17, 1981 in Dallas, TX, and lived in Denton, TX.  They were divorced before 1984, and he subsequently lived in Redmond, WA and Las Vegas, where he was a writer.

Barry died February 9, 1990 near Eureka, NV.  He reportedly suffered from bi-polar disorder and depression.  It has also been reported that his barefoot body was found in the snow, just off of South Highway 50 near Eureka; his death was presumed to be suicide. 

From his obituary February 13, 1990, Las Vegas Sun: "He is survived by three brothers, Ronald Eith of Atlanta, David Eith of Honolulu, and Marc Eith of [Las Vegas]; one sister, Nancy Parris of Redmond, WA; and his stepmother, Betty Jean (Voss) Eith of Las Vegas.  Memorial services will be held at Christ Church in Las Vegas February 16, 1990."
