Charles was one of the people I was looking forward to seeing at our 50th reunion.  Hal Whipple let me know about his passing and sent this picture of Hal, Brent Adams and Charles when Bruce passed away.

The last time I saw Charles was the day we graduated.  Here is a picture of us at LVHS.  He was a great friend, a lot of fun and so smart!

We exchanged Christmas cards.  This one tells about his life after HS.  I tried to contact him in 1997 while working on assignment for the bank in Idaho close to Walla Walla but we never connected.  Part two on the next entry.

Charles was born July 15, 1947, and died October 23, 2011 in Walla Walla, Washington, where he taught literature at Walla Walla Community College.

1.  The following is a review of Charles by a student:

"Each winter I revisit Tom Jones, Sophia, and the good Squire Allworthy.  Mr. Cudney's enthusiasm for this novel was infectious, and his love of the subject was matched only by his knowlege."

2.  The following was posted on the funeral home website, in memory of Charles, by Robert (Bob) Martin (LVHS 1965).

Charles was a good friend of mine at Las Vegas High School. He was bright, articulate and kind. I have many memories of his creative spirt in Madame Pivornick's French class and the English classes of Mr. Butterfield and Mrs. Butler. I am certain that he was a fine educator. My condolences to his family and friends.
