Las Vegas Review Journal
January 13, 1967

Funeral services for a 20-year-old Las Vegas man killed in Vietnam recently will be Monday afternoon.

Larry Erwin Burke, son of Boyd W. and Norma (Leavitt) Burke of 1642 Lewis Avenue, was killed when he stepped on a mine while on patrol, his father said.  Burke, who graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1965, was sent to Vietnam last May [1966].  He had visited home on a brief leave before going to Southeast Asia.

Burke is survived by his parents; a brother, Danny, who is in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg, NC;  two sisters, Carolyn Alter, Alhambra, Calif, and Charlene Anderson, Las Vegas;  his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Leavitt, Las Vegas; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Newell, Riverside, CA.

Services will be held at the Chapel of the LDS 1st Ward at 2:30 pm, with Bishop Robert Keate officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded to Burke by an Army unit from Fort Irwin, CA, during burial at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery.
